While I"m sorry that you and the kids had to go through this (I am from a divorced family as well and my mother never received one penny from my dad as they were divorced in another country a long, long time ago (1968), I don't think that Jon is going to abandon his kids. If anything, it's a control tool for him (taking out this money and leaving her with $1,000 left in the account. I am sure that this will be taken care of by her lawyer.
I should edit my post and say (after reading some of the other links provided by other posters) that it is quite possible that this whole allegation is a made-up by Kate to gain public sympathy as many women have been indeed scr*wed over by their husbands at divorce time. Of course, it can go the other way as well. Bottom line is that divorces are messy, especially when they are high profile and a lot of money is involved.

Yeah, and don't you love it how Kate says in one of the articles provided that she will work at McDonald's if necessary so that she can provide for her children? I don't know what that's about because she's a registered nurse and nurses are in demand across the country. Of course, Jon should support his family too, that's a given.

They both need to shut up and go to work. They have eight kids for crying out loud. They got to ride their gravy train for a while, but it appears to be over.
I enjoyed watching the show. Kate is a perfectionist and on the bossy side but Jon had his faults, too but that wasn't what the show was about, it was about two parents raising 8 children.
Anyway, I remember when they annouced that their relationship was to be kept private and they are working through it. The next thing I know Jon is on talk shows and then Kate is on talk shows discussing what each other was doing but emphasized everything they do is for the children.
They bought that mansion, they said it was for the children. Well, Jon, it takes money to live in a house that size and a salary of a nurse, would not sustain living in a house that big.
Jon and Kate are both immature and they both need to stop this nonsense. The train is out of control. Jon acts like he is a spoiled brat and Kate has really toned it down a bit.

Exactly. There is no reason to bring it up in the media, that's what the judge is for. I've seen a few episodes years ago and she is a very controlling person. I will add he is being a complete jerk.
I think she's over compensating for the fact that she looks like a total desperate fool for having married him in the first place, much less have children with. I don't think that Jon changed one bit in the course of their marriage.
She got caught up in the adoration of the media, which is fickle to begin with. It will bite her if she keeps this stupid stuff up.
I think that whatever either of these abject attention whores does to each other is karma.
