Why is she so vocal about it? Nonsense, she has had work done:
 We decided to cast our plastic surgery microscopes on these sexy actresses and see if their perennially good looks have had some assistance from the knife. The easiest of the bunch to decipher is Meryl Streep, who at 57 has been sporting a very taut neck, no jowls, flawless face that is virtually free of wrinkles, and refreshed eyes in the film Devil Wears Prada and in recent promotional events. This has led us to believe that Meryl had a face lift, neck lift, and in most likelihood an eyelid surgery. Additionally, we are quite sure that she’s done maintenance over the years via laser or chemical peels and the routine dermal injections such as Botox or Restylane.

My grandmother is 64 (65 in two weeks) and she looks just as good if not better than Streep and she's never had any work done. She takes care of her skin, exercises, eats well, drinks lots of water and tries to be happy 
I'm not saying Streep absolutely hasn't had any work done, but to say that nobody who is 60 looks that good is incorrect....its' just very rare. Plus, she has access to a lot of skin/hair etc treatments that the normal person doesn't... so I would think it's much easier to look healthier and younger without surgery when you can utilize those things.

I don't think it's a huge problem whether celebrities has had plastic surgery or not.
There are far worse things in the world to worry about.
And like JetJockey says if you take care of yourself you don't need surgery to look good.

Got to agree with others, Why isnt it what 60 looks like? Maybe some of the 50 yr olds you think you are seeing are really 60 yr olds.

She's probably had a lot of skin treatments.
I'm 55 and I don't have jowls or excessive wrinkles but my skin is not nearly as clear as Meryl's. I am sure her skincare is much more meticulous than mine.
Still, it is not her fault if photos of her are gauzy, or even retouched.
She looks amazing on the cover of this week's EW.
I very much enjoy Meryl Streep's work, no matter what she looks like. |

If you compare the above photo, Meryl's face is much smoother and tighter. OK, maybe Meryl has not had any plastic surgery.
She has had nonsurgical microcurrent facials with facialist to the stars, Tracie Martyn:

Madonna also had these facials and recently has had a face lift which she has admitted to. The difference between her and Meryl is she has not been vocal about it one way or the other and has certainly not said that male celebrities her age should "stop with the plastic surgery". Don't you think it would sound obnoxious if Madonna said that?

This is what good cosmetic surgery looks like-- natural and undetectable. Madonna is well known for her health oriented lifestyle-- this has been her big selling point from the beginning of her career, what a total health nut she is. Hello, even she could not age well without a little help!
Meryl probably had a face lift, can't admit it (which she doesn't have to, she just needs to keep her mouth shut!), and has also gone out of her way to criticize male actors who have had work. People that is crazy!!
