Agree, not the same as some hollywood doofus telling us about laundry soap or shoes or vitamins. Lee Iacocca not only was a superb automotive expert, he was involved in actually designing and making the cars. Lee has real credibility in that topic. I bought a Chrysler product too, partly because he was someone that I could trust.
He also was instrumental in "saving" the company. PS... I SEE WE have a YES vote.... .
Everyone on this forum says that endorsement of a product by a celebrity doesn't influence them but yet there are products that have made it by a simple endorsement of a product by celebrities all the time.
Amazing
I have bought products because of an endorsement I admit to it some were like this product ain't worth crap but then again I have bought to find out the product was worth every penny I spend.
I have also bought products without endorsements with the same reaction.
Do I buy a product simply because of an endorsement no but if I need the product I may or may not try it simply because of an endorsement.
Good for you Starlady! I have as well. I purchased some face cream from Loreal. Did it work, no. But, the female sounds so convincing. And, we women are always looking for the next best thing for our faces.

It's best to go by your gut feeling or instincts...or by word of mouth. Was the Loreal "lady" famous OR just a spokeswoman? I mean just famous celebrities....like Billy Mays became famous...but initially he was simply a pitchman for products; then later his reputation preceded him as he became famous or well known. .
I voted "sometimes". I'm certainly influenced by all kinds of factors and I won't dismiss celebrity endorsements as one of them, subconsciously if not directly...sometimes. "Influence" doesn't always articulate specific impulses. Bob Dole's endorsement of Viagra, for example, tells me way more than I want to know about Bob Dole. But it was a pretty effective breach of common reticence about the product, I think we'd all have to grant. Not that I personally...I mean, you know...hey now.
I just do NOT get it! I pay NO attention to these things. If anything, if I do not like or respect the celebrity; I actually will go out of my way to NOT use the product/service that they are "pitching".
I also think companies waste MILLIONS of dollars with these deals and should instead focus on improving their products/services and/or lowering their prices.
What do you think??? Does a celebrity endorsement influence your decision when purchasing a company's goods or services???
I remember Michael Jackson never got me to drink Pepsi...LOL.
I feel the same way you do. I will admit that celebs often give me brand recognition but they never influence my decision of what I'm going to buy. When I say Beyonce endorsing Dish Network or whatever it was I thought "what a waste of money" lol

You seem to understand my intent. As a previous poster mentioned...."the celebrity may put said product on your "radar"; but it would NOT affect my decision making processes. However another poster has mentioned that "subconscious" effect of commercials...makes me think.......I would then not be consciously aware of the commercial's effect on me. But I'll still stay with a resounding "NO". .
only if they're paying me what others paid them to advertise the product.
Good Point!!!
