so long as they show respect
I could care less what Sean Penn's personal politics are - to each his own. I just don't care for his lack of respect toward those whose opinion is different from his own - I don't lose any sleep over it though...I just roll my eyes when he starts spouting off.

Now that's respectful.

Because you have a different opinion means Sean Penn is disrespecting you! Care to explain.

Good post.

And this ladies & gentleman is what is otherwise known as the privledge of American citizenship. We are profoundly lucky to be living in a country where it is perfecly within our rights to voice (even at the top of our lungs if we wish) any dissenting opinion we may have without fear of bodily harm or retribution.

We do not have to like or agree with what he (or anyone else) has to say on any given topic but, can't we let it remind us to be thankful for our right to do so all the same.

gracie

"Communist Sean Penn" Got to love the title of this thread. Is that you Joe McCarthy?

Sean Penn is an American citizen and can still say whatever he wants. I don't understand his fascination with Chavez, but that's his right.

I do think he is a dedicated humanitarian and has helped thousands of people. Why would anyone denigrate him for having cameras following him? That is a good thing and gets needed attention to the problems.

I've got bigger things to worry about, other than what Sean Penn does in his private life.
I'm glad that we [so far] live in a country where dissent is still a powerful foundation and integral part of our liberty.

I think we'd all be better suited to direct outrage at the banking and mortgage mobs - the real traitors - than some actor shooting off his mouth. **JMHO**
Exactly. And maybe some fail to realize that; dissent is the highest form of patriotism. You can object and criticize and still be a patriot.

And do you think for one momeent he doesn't appreciate his country? People just focus on the crazyinappropriate comments he sometimes make. Like I said in another response...Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.
