To disagree that Chavez is a dictator and provide your point of view as to why you believe this way is one thing. To not offer up any supporting evidence and to simply say you think they, his critics, should go to prison is very Communist (USSR, China, and North Korea).

I don't know if I could agree with calling him communist, stupid maybe, but not communist. It was a rather dumb comment on his behalf, of course he does usually sound like he has been drinking, too.

LOL...how true. Penn's not a "dreaded communist". I'd just call him a goofball who happens to have great acting talent. He should leave it at that.

People on the fringes always want to silence dissent. Penn is definitely on the fringe, as is his friend Chavez. Maybe "Caracas Sean" will be the new "Hanoi Jane."

Sean Penn is highly regarded here in LA for all the work he does for the poor. Penn, like many other celebrities has spent much time & $ helping those who lost their homes in New Orleans & Haiti. But of-course the usual haters have nothing else to do but spread their nonsense.

And he did so with a camera crew in tow as if to say, "look at me!"

No he did it with a camera crew so that he could publicize his efforts and bring attention to an urgent problem. Something he is better equipped to do than you or I.
