I just read where she has passed away at 91 and was the longest running character actor of a soap- since April 2nd 1956 when the show premiered. Felt as if I grew up with her. Many many kitchens and many disagreements with Lisa! LOL.

I just read that. She had quite a career.

I used to watch ATWT every day for years, but got fed up with the lousy (and sometimes offensive) storylines and stopped watching months ago.

Just read that it's been cancelled as of September this year!

Perhaps "soap operas" have run their course . . . ?

My mother watched this while I was growing up and I got into it - my sister emailed me the news..we were watching this when the Kennedy assassination news broke..

Were they still showing many if any of the old characters such as Nancy, Bob and Lisa? I am assuming Bob and Lisa are still alive -- they had to be the hottest couple on soaps in the sixties!

Wow. How sad. Many many conversation about Lisa in the kitchen!!!!! Nancy seemed to be involved in everyone's life. What a great actress Helen was.

I grew up watching ATWT and Guiding Light with my Mom and we watched it through the years together. It was tough to see GL go and will be tougher to see ATWT go.
