I have lost five or six cell phones over the last 15 years....and recently washed my second one...feeling a little embarassed for calling in to the insurance provider with another washed up phone...I was intrigued to hear that washing a phone is common as are flushing them down the toilet, having ones dog eat them....and using the vibration for sex which drowned the phone....so...how have you all lost your phones or destroyed them....

I've only ever lost one cell phone. I was at the train station and decided to eat lunch before boarding. While ordering I put the phone on the counter. An attractive female walked by and caught my eye. I got my food and forgot to pick up the phone. Didn't realize it till I was done eating and the phone was long gone.

Only once. I go home and found it was missing. After completing a search of personal belongings determined it was gone. Went to the T-Mobile store and got a new one with a lot of features the old one didn't have. Cost about $30.

Whether or not a phone will survive a trip through the washer is hit-or-miss. I have heard of phones being fine after being frozen solid in ice, and many that have survived a dip in the toliet (been there, done that.)

You are not alone. My wife had a phone that was eaten by a dog. It worked okay thereafter, albeit with a few major cosmetic issues. Most recently, I dropped a Palm Treo and cracked the screen. Got a replacement under warrranty, and had another cracked screen about 3-4 weeks later. I would like to blame Palm for making a device that slips out of my hand so easily, but I cannot help but to focus the blame on yours truly.

Loosing or damaging less than 2 phones per year, on average, is not much above par, IMO.

I read about someone who slipped and fell on his while in the bathtub. Ended up iin the ER where it was surgically removed. It rang twice during the operation.

Wow. My first inclination is to call BS on this one. However, I just don't see how anyone could make this stuff up.

Of course, we must ask whether or not the phone got up in there accidentally.
