I have had my HTC EVO for over a year with no problems. Today, however, I started getting a banner on every website I visit. It is large and doesn't move and says "Seat Geeks."

How can I get rid of it??

That's a new one. You've tried rebooting the phone, right? Just in case it's some app gone mega-haywire.

The simplest way to clean out a phone is to just do a master reset. Use your carrier's backup software to ONLY backup your contacts (if you use Facebook or Google to manage your contacts, then this step probably isn't necessary). This procedure varies by model, but I think for most HTCs you hold down the volume-up button while turning on the phone until a boot menu appears.

Just factory reset the phone. Don't bother trying to get rid of it.

That worked and it is gone. Thank you! I just didn't think about trying that.

I think it's more likely you installed an app with admob or other advertising software on it, there are apps that will show you what apps you have installed that including advertising software so you can remove them.

It's no different than the computer one deals with on a daily basis.

But I already have to deal with my computers at home and don't want to have to deal with another one "out there".....and I'm usually out there to get away for awhile from what's in the house! I just want to make/receive phone calls - anything else is just a bonus to me.
