I called today to get one of my lines turned off since it was out of contract and my sister got her own phone. I was sort of keeping it as an insurance policy (it is only 9.99 a month) in case someone's iphone broke but since we are all due for upgrades in a month I was going to dump it.

When I called they immediately offered me free unlimited messaging on all my phones to not dump the one line that only costs $9.99. They lady told me all you have to do is call and complain that you cannot afford your bill and they will give it to you.

Now as soon as I get my mom to use beluga I will just dump the whole thing.

Good advice!

I was half expecting this to be a one-word post consisting of "Leave".

DH and I are with ATT right now and planning to switch after the plan expires because T-Mobiles has a better offer. I wonder if ATT will care when I call to ask for my acct number.

Hopefully what happened to the OP will happen to us too LOL

In my experience, 9 times out of 10 this trips a red flag to the CSR. They will usually transfer you to retentions, who will make all kinds of crazy offers to keep you. Even if you aren't planning on leaving, it's a great way to get some perks!
