Zarathustrax = FAIL (I'm jk, but you clearly don't know what you're talking about)

It doesn't work like that. Most of Apple's customer base doesn't care about anything you mentioned. All they care about is that Apple provides a great experience. Given the fact that their user experienced is unmatched, they will sell iPhone 5's just fine.

I am going to assume you are making this statement based on opinion.

I think I am anything but typical. Instead of trying to irritate me, prove me wrong.
I think my reputation around here is that I am NOT an Apple hater. And that I generally don't post myths or half truths. I don't bash any product because I happen to favor a different one.
I like the devices. But I speak the truth. Maybe Apple will prove me wrong and the they will have that killer thing that's going to make us all go: now THAT is cool. (And I hope they do).
Every rumor out there backs up everything I said.
Will Apple move a ton of them? You bet. Am I mad about that? Heck no! GO Apple GO! I say. I would hate it if Apple started backsliding.

In any event: I guess we'll know pretty soon.

Yes, it's based on the opinion of the masses.... which is why I'm able to make such a statement.

I'm going to assume that you didn't read this thread since I already mentioned who's work I'm referencing in this field.

Oh, I'm no fanboi. I don't even use Apple products on a regular basis (Although I do own them). My current phone is an HTC Evo 3D.

But I've reviewed a lot of studies in this space. The techie in me prefers Android.... but when making recommendations, I'm not boas towards one or the other. It depends on the person. For the general population, Apple has provided a superior user experience.

I had so much excitement to completely switch to the apple brand, buy the new iPhone 5, and be happy ever after, however after they unveiled it today that luster is gone.

I think I will stick to my htc. I had high expectations and hope of the phone, like a completely new design, new look, new menu, and much more. I do not want a 4s with a bigger screen and 3 microphones. Im highly disappointed in apple iPhone but not apple co. = my ipad is cool

Product announcements in general, regardless of the company, have lost their luster. The iPhone 5 looks like a solid phone, but we already knew the design and main features ahead of time.

Other phones already had LTE radios in them, other phones already had cameras that could shoot panorama shots and take pictures while filming a video, other phones already had screens bigger than 3.5 inches.

Point being, these product announcements are not that exciting. Slimming a phone down and making normal upgrades is not that exciting. People don't flip out when a laptop manufacturer makes a laptop thinner, lighter and faster each year for example. And yes, I understand the average person does not buy a laptop as often as they buy a phone. But people get all excited when Apple or Samsung release an updated tablet every year. The pricing on those are pretty much the same as a laptop.

How many times can you re-invent the wheel though?

I wish Apple would've had some new..."gotta have it" feature that they would've introduced but I guess that wasn't in the cards. At this point in time, no smartphone manufacturer really has some completely unique or original feature that blows the competition away. The Galaxy S3 has a large screen but it's not particularly unique or revolutionary in any way. Likewise, now we know the iPhone is large and faster than the 4S but alas, not something revolutionary like so many were hoping a few months ago.

I think the smartphone market is at a stalemate; where do you go from here? Sure you can make phones larger, faster, and improve battery life but what will the next "Oh my God, that's amazing" feature be? I'm a bit leery of NFC currently, it's still not in a stage where it'll be acceptable in any quantity. I also have concern about the security features built in to prevent identity theft...not sure I'm ready to have my credit card on my phone yet.

So far...I just don't see anything unique or revolutionary on the horizon. One day I'm sure but not anytime in the near future.
