As a realtor, I can't believe how many things that I have been able to accomplish using my smart phone than before I had one. It would be much harder today to work without one now.

Rarely, in my case. Probably 50 text messages for every call, and I'm old. That, and I don't give out the number to just anyone.

reading emails and surfing the web are much more common for me than talking on the phone.

typing on smartphones really sucks... so I wouldn't surf in the same ways I do on my laptop. I wouldn't even use forums on a smartphone...

Aside from the multiple uses selected in the poll, I've also used my alarm for a wake-up call; timer - set for 5 mins every morning to do some kind of quick excercising; ordered pizza (Papa John's); reserve movies at various Red Box kiosks; tipping calculator (useful when splitting the bill in large parties); notepad - shopping list/s; need to know name of song/band that's playing on store's stereo speakers (Soundhound app); invite/s - reminders (iphone to iphone); et cetera,....

Many of the listed uses, as well as some mentioned within the thread. I also use mine to document beers, coffee, restaurant food, etc. After a year and a half of owning a smartphone I have hundreds of entries of things I like things I don't like etc. I can't begin to remember the beers or coffees I've tried and what I thought of all of them. Now I don't have to. I also keep lists of the books and CDs I own. so I won't buy them again.
