I got an iPhone 3GS and I had no problem downloading plenty of apps etc. It was locked to a certain sim so I took it to the repair shop so they could unlock it to any network. They jailbroke my phone etc, which I didn't want them to do, and now it is a poorer quality phone, it is like an iPhone 3G and not 3GS now. Has anyone any idea what has happened, and more importantly if I can get it back to the 3GS iOS quality?

Any help would be greatly appreciated people

Thanks in advance

Paul

Did you make a backup of the phone before you brought it to them? If you did, simply restore the backup.

If not, wiping the device and starting over from scratch is another option.

Would wiping it just factory reset it and basically restore it to it's former capabilities? How do I wipe it?

If that works, thank you so much!

You can plug it into itunes and do a factory wipe. It will restore it to the day you got it, basically. All texts, call logs, pics, etc will be GONE so you need to make sure you back that stuff up first.

I went to General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. Now my phone has had the apple logo for hours.

This is meant to work and get the phone to go back on -

1- shutdown your iphone with the hard reset “home button and power for 10 second”
2- connect the usb cable to the pc but NOT to the iphone”
3- open itunes
4- while the iphone is off, press the home button for 5-10 seconds then plus the other end of the white connection cable into the iphone
5- do not remove your finger from the home button
6- itunes will detect it and you can now restore it

But I don't have a laptop. I have never used itunes, if I get someone elses laptop can I do it from theirs?
