Do you have a cite for this statement or is it just your personal observations?

Really?

Personal observation. Any time FB makes any type of serious change, my wall explodes with people saying things like "Why do you have to keep changing stuff, FB!"
But if you want some "cites" I'll be happy to oblige.

I didn't get a smartphone for Facebook in the first place. So my interest would remain the same! I find there to be a lot of convenience to have the internet at my fingertips for all sorts of things.

Subjective but whenever I see someone on their smartphone it seems they are on facebook.

I'd like to know what percent of the time people who are using their phone for other than a phone conversation are on facebook. I wonder if it is 30% or even more.
Sure because most people do not use it for this its for business mostly both preosn and job wise.

Perhaps kids, I see more people in their late twenties and beyond on Reddit. I probably spend less than 5% of my time on Facebook. I generally only access it via phone if I am bored and wanting to waste a few minutes.

Myspace was dead before smarphones really got traction, it wasn't a big contributor.
Uh, MySpace was still going strong when smartphones were becoming popular. I remember back in 2008/2009 most of my friends thought Facebook was stupid and for children. Keep in mind that everything Facebook is today, MySpace was once, too. Well, perhaps without the "Like" buttons, but every business, band, comedian, etc. had a MySpace page before Facebook took over a few years later.

They don't need ads when they collect data/information from your phone. Facebook makes its money from selling your info to advertisers who in turn place targeted ads onto the full version of your Facebook page.

I didn't get a smartphone because of Facebook. I got it because I can check email and use the internet on it. Being able to access Facebook is just an extra benefit when Facebook is not blocked (as I started using a smartphone in China where FB is blocked).
