What does I tunes do that is so great? Honest question. My impression has been that it just locks things down and gets in the way. Why do I need or even want more than drag and drop?

"Drag and Drop" (henceforth called "D&D") is a pain in the a..
This from a guy that uses that method.

Ever buy a song on your phone? OK, now I have to remember to drag that to my PC when I get home. Buy some new songs on your PC? Ok, now I need to remember to drag those to my device.

iTunes: Buy it on your phone and it is already available on every device you own. Have more music on your PC then will fit on your device? iTunes can auto shuffle music onto the device any time you connect to iTunes.

I am not an iTunes fan but it does make music management simple.

Well, I got the iPhone 5. Contrary to the rest of the world, apparently, I didn't spend hours playing around on it and lose sleep because I was up so late with it. It's just a phone with a few helpful tools and couple of distractions (darn you Candy Crush!). But, then again, all cell and smart phones are. I'll admit I had fun choosing new ringtones from an app!

Technology doesn't impress me and I could live without it. I have a computer because I'm a writer. If I weren't. I couldn't live without that, too.

I went with the iPhone 5 because I already have an iMac. It's five years old and not one single thing has ever gone wrong with it. It's not even sluggish. They are VERY user friendly for those who hate computers and those who may not hate them but aren't as tech savvy. They make life easier. When I had PCs from Micro$oft, they were constantly breaking down, getting errors, frustrating me and causing untold stress. I replaced them constantly.

I put it this way: When you buy a PC, it's like buying a car... and having to push it everywhere you go. When you buy an Apple, it's like getting a chauffeur with the car. It's not the be all-end all, but it's a great choice for me.

With that said. Apple isn't for everyone. Neither is Microsoft. Neither are computers for that matter. Everyones tastes, preferences, needs and wants are different. No one is right. No one is wrong. Unless they're just spewing random opinions as facts as folks on the internet LOVE to do on random subjects due to their addiction to anonymity. That usually happens with brand loyalty feuds in all walks of life.

So, if I'm not the biggest technology fan, why did I get a smart phone at all? Because it increased my productivity as a writer. Period.

I got a great deal on the phone.

iPhone 5 - $215
Upgrade Fee - $30
Otterbox case - $54
Anti Glare Screen Protector - $20
----------------------------------------
Total (with taxes) = $319 + $70 mo. service plan.

I got all of that for only $225 with the same service plan for only $58.
My savings = $94 and $12/mo on the plan.

I paid for the phone with my tax refund and my old land line was $40/mo. For only $18 more a month, I get a walking computer to work with. It was worth the upgrade and THAT is why I bought it.

By the way, I went through Best Buy Mobile and, after my in-store experience with Verizon, I think everyone should. Best Buy Mobile has WAY MORE opportunities for getting you discounts and they DON'T work on commission.
