Can you turn off the phone function while using other features of the iPhone? Meaning, can you listen to music or podcasts, or watch/make videos or play games without phone calls interrupting you?

Yes its called airplane mode. But you will be offline. So download your podcasts first. There is another trick if you are in WIFI range. Turn on airplane mode> then turn on wifi. You will lose the cellular connection but still have WIFI access.

I use this for my old iPhones around the house or traveling it pretty much turns them into iPod touch.

I just came back from my walk and, fortunately, I wasn't disturbed at all. I noted your suggestion for the next time! Thanks!

I think "Airplane Mode" is used to disconnect your phone.
