If it's like my dads s2 on t mobile, you need to use the Samsung kies software on your PC. Over the air update was not an option. Also, the update was to ice cream sandwich, not honeycomb. Google kies.

The Honey Comb version of Android was designed for use on tablets, not cell phones. I am sure with the right hacking it could be installed on a cell phone. Check out the XDA Developers internet site for tips.

Yea, you want Ice Cream Sandwich, not Honeycomb.
You have to root and ROM if you want that. Heck, might even be able to get a Jelly Bean ROM.
