I was wondering if anyone knows of a decent smartphone made in Korea -I bought a galaxy tablet made in Korea -anyone out there with some recommendations for made in Korea smartphones?-I went to the Verizon store yesterday and the rude/unhelpful salesguy said everything is made in China and clearly did not care. Thanks
Rumor is that half of the Samsung Galaxy S4's are made in Korea and the other half are made in China. But you'll never get a salesperson to tell you where your S4 was manufactured.
I believe that HTC's are made in Taiwan and Nokia's are made in Finland. If you can wait, Motorola is scheduled to start selling this summer a new smartphone that's made in the United States.
Most devices will be made in China, Mexico, some Samsung and LG in Korea.
Moto is 50/50 between ODMs in China and maybe US. But it might be a flagship device.
Sorry. Don't remember any US made devices off the top of my head.
In short, it means that approximately 30% of the phone will already be assembled in other countries (possibly by the manufacturer of these parts) before being shipped to TX, and will be added to the rest of the parts (from all over the world) during assembly in TX.

Spot on here Skunk.
In many cases, the chipset and components on the PCB are pressed and assembled as one unit in China or Korea. Then when they come even over here to Mexico as an example, they are fully assembled.
One of the reasons they do this is because tariffs. If only X amount of the phone can assmebled overseas without getting dinged as a 'phone' then those tariffs can be avoided.
Very similar with autos as well.
