By definition, Electrocute indicates death by electricity intentionally or accidentally.
That's true - if it happened - which it almost surely didn't - unless it was being charged - which it reads like it was - in which case, she could have been electrocuted by allowing the iphone to provide a path to higher voltage from AC outlet.
It's like saying a person was electrocuted by a butter knife - while he was standing in a bathtub full of water jamming the butter knive into an AC outlet.

What difference does it make how it happened ?? Electrocuted by a power cord or a butter knife stuck in an electric socket, same result.
Let's not split hairs now. More than likely the phone was attached to the charger and the charger was attached to an electrical outlet. I don't think it was an issue of her picking up a phone not attached to a charger and getting electrocuted. I doubt that a cellphone battery has enough juice to electrocute a person. AC and DC power are two entirely different technologies, just ask Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse around the turn of the last century (figuratively of course).
The author of the article is going to use the most dramatic way to sell his story, even if not stating all the facts. Clearly, we don't have all the details yet, but I seriously doubt Apple will be held liable in the long run.
This whole debate is like the old debate of getting electrocuted while on a landline phone by lightning vs. talking on a cordless handset during the same lightning strike.

The title of the thread reads "Electrocuted by iPhone" and the original post reads "electrocuted by an iPhone".
"Electrocuted by iPhone" is not the same as electrocuted by the energy delivered by a AC power outlet - which is apparently what happened.
Where would we be without those that know everything about events posted on the web despite having no knowledge of the events themselves, we are truly blessed to have such people in out midst.
