Did anyone else notice you can no longer get a contract plan with VZ that has a certain number of minutes? The only plans offered now are Share Everything. I find this disturbing because I'm on an unlimited data plan but if I was forced over to a current plan I'd lose not only my data but I'd pay $25 per month.
That $25 goes to keeping a landline which I wouldn't do except I don't have good coverage at my house. If it can't replace my landline then how does it benefit me? I rarely make primetime calls with my cell.
Will other carriers follow? If not then what is VZ think they are doing? Are we too confused to handle multiple plans and this is making it easier for us and therefore we should thank them by paying $600 more over 2 years?
OR I can get unlimited minutes and twice the data for $70 on a prepay plan.
At&t did the same thing with it's voice plans recently. Truth be told, there is almost not profit in voice any more. Data and messaging are the current king. You could always go the prepaid route. Your choice.

I was able to add a minute plan on AT&T website. Only $10 cheaper but it has 50% more data. If you were stingy you also have rollover minutes.
Might not be the best deal but if I'm forced in to it then that's when I shop.
I just bought a new cell phone 3 weeks ago at BestBuy. They tried to tell me that my current plan (300 min w/free nights/weekends) wasn't available anymore. I had to call Verizon at BestBuy and have a supervisor approve whatever so I could keep my same plan. I didn't even want to buy a new phone, but after the latest PRL (Preferred Roaming List) update at the end of April, my old phone was stuck in roaming mode. Spent over 2+ hours with Verizon tech trying to troubleshoot it. So forced into buying a new phone, or constantly charging old one since battery life was greatly dimished due to constant roamng.
So many things are geared towards buying in bulk. Makes us single people pay more. Very frustrating.
Even with a phone upgrade? I still don't understand the logic when it appears to me that the prepay plan is a much better deal.
You will find that prepaid plans do not have the same footprint/coverage as post paid plans with the big carriers. Prepaid plans tend to be more regional in coverage but still allow for nationwide roaming. In addition, many of newer, advanced devices are not allowed on prepaid.
