I can't afford my $90 bill anymore, esp being unemployed 1 year, and my contract is up.

I have the HTC Inc 2 which is CDMA/GSM compatible.

So I thought I could get some unlock software and swap carriers.

People talk?

If there is a better one I am open. I need to balance price/quality as I am job hunting and sound quality is important, but not $90 important.

PagePlusCellular has a bunch of possibilities. I rarely use a cellphone and using them allows me to pay $10 every three months. It uses the Verizon network, so quality should be the same.

Thanks I use mine alot but can't keep paying this. Hopefully I can find unlock software which would give me all carrier options.

That's how I felt about the $84 option. Being I don't often use a phone but have it for my own convenience, I decided to stop paying the price.

I also use PagePlus, for a couple of years now. I have the $12 month plan which included 250 min/text and 10 megs data. I have the Network turned off so there's no data transfer. I use my home WiFi for any data needs, or else where WiFi may exist. WiFi data does not count towards the phone company network data. As I don't use the network, the 'G' factor... isn't.

It is Verizon service. When I use/complete VM activity, I get a Verizon message.

PPC will (may) port your CDMA phone... or did my HTC smartphone.

Default PagePlus is the way to go

Since I no longer work at my F500 VZ stuck it to me and jacked my bill to $105 for 900 min and 2 gb data!

Now I dumped them went to PagePlus, which is them, and I pay $55! and I get unlimited minutes! Thank you harry chickpea!

And the best part. Their service people know what they are talking about. They have CSR that can truly trouble shoot and they are based in Ohio.

Now in fairness, I may go back to VZ with an S4 when I go back to a full time corp job.

I've been with Page Plus for a little while now, I really like it. It works great with my iPhone 4s and it is costing me $30 per month.

I am using the 1200min/3000txt/500gb plan.

BTW, the term you're looking for is MVNO (mobile virtual network operator). They are carriers that do not have their own network. They lease space on the networks of other carriers. PagePlus is a Verizon MVNO. Same network, but may have restrictions on roaming. Straight Talk/Net10 is probably the biggest one, but there are plenty of others.
