Is there anything specific I can't do with the older Android?

I have a problem with links to Instagram. They don't show the image but they show the comments. That might be because the Android is too old. I'm not going to upgrade soon.

The world is constantly telling us to upgrade and update everything. But a lot of people are still happy with Windows XP. But on some XP computers, you can't run Hulu videos, because XP can't run the newer IEs. Also certain features of Google-related sites don't work with the older IE.

Sometimes it's just hype.
Some apps won't run on the older android versions. I've used android since the G1 at Tmobile. I now have an S4. I don't buy every phone. I had a galaxy s, then a htc sensation, then a s2, then a s2 skyrocket, now a s4

I hope the stability has improved some. i'm running gingerbread on a galaxy s, and just 3 weeks after resetting the phone I'm at the point where I need to pull the battery once every day or two. The Nexus 5 can't get here soon enough.
