My mother has this very old nokia 6020, and her phone bill shows an unexplained 1024kb data traffic each day for 13 days. First day(1st of july) at 07:55 pm 1024kb, then each day at 00:00:00. On the 9th of july 2x 1024kb, and on the 13th of july the last 1024kb data packet at 00:00:00 again.

Why did this happen all of the sudden? This is a VERY old phone, and doesn't do automatic data traffic of this kind. why would it since at the time it came on the market, 1MB of data traffic would have been considerable.
She hasn't made any changes to settings for a long time, and doesn't even use internet on this phone.

The outcome is that she has pay $20 on top of her prepaid phone bill, which is ridiculous.

Is there someone out there who recognizes this pattern?

Thanx!

Why don't you go to a Nokia store/kiosk and ask them to check the phone for those unexplained charges.
I have N8 and never experienced anything like that, but my phone is a newer model.
Europe has many vendors/plans and different rules.

Just delete the data settings.

Tools> Settings>Connections

Delete the access points listed there.

She will not have data access anymore, thus no more charges

Is she sending or receiving any multimedia (picture) messages? Unlike normal text messages, multimedia messages use the data network to send/receive a multimedia file, and therefore can result in data charges.

That's the only thing I can think of.

Something just clicked. 1024kb is exactly 1MB.

You should check the messages folder to see if there are any MMS messages in the outbox or trying to download and delete them.

Or better yet factory reset the device to wipe out the memory and any pending activities. Then follow the steps I wrote above to delete the data settings.

Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Delete data and restore > YES
