Sounds like a phone issue...

I just got a 5s and battery life seems decent. It made it through an entire work day and was at 85% after 8 hours.

Follow this: How to increase your iPhone’s battery life on iOS 7 — Tech News and Analysis

Disabling some effects, background updates, push notifications, etc can help considerably.

You could also consider a case that provides some extra juice. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7...attery-cases/#!

I just bought a set of three spare batteries and a wall charger for my Samsung for about $15 total online. At the end of the day, when my battery is down to like 20% I just swap a fresh one in; takes about 69 seconds so swap them.

Why don't you just do something like that?

Maybe the OP doesn't want to rush out and buy a new phone running a completely different operating system just so they can swap batteries (forcing the phone to shut down…)?
