I used to do the whole wait in line all night thing for Black Friday when I was younger. It was fun when I was 16, I'm too damn lazy and I have a lot more patience to wait a day or week or month or year for whatever they're selling nowadays.

I ordered mine at 12:05 am on the 9/20... it arrived on 9/26 straight from the Apple store.

I got a good night's sleep too.

Never in my life waited anywhere in line for a product release.
And I have little respect for those that do.

I am with you there Peregrine.

I noticed that several of the people interviewed really werent there JUST for the phone either. There was some other reason like that group of guys promoting some website or business or the guys that buying the gold phone to resell or hold a line for.

I love phones and am fortunate to work in this industry that I have a passion for.
But this kind of stuff just makes me scratch my head sometimes.

While there are some who want the experience or to simply be one of the first to own the particular product, I think many more do it for the quick resale value. There were people reselling the gold iPhone for 2x-3x what they paid for it as soon as they walked out the door. The price people pay just to be first...for something completely trivial and that will be back in stock eventually.

I could understand if it were a completely new product, or a limited-release item, but c'mon; as usual the iPhone 5C and 5S are really the same phones as the iPhone 5.

You shouldn't include 5S in your statement. It has a better:

CPU
GPU
Battery
Camera
Fingerprint sensor

Apple iPhone 5s vs Apple iPhone 5 - Phone specs comparison

But yeah, the 5 and the 5S do share the same size, weight, screen... all the important stuff.

You are right about the 5C... it's much closer to being a 5 in a new shell than the 5S ever will be.

Just sayin'....
