There is a "CHIP" in the battery to prevent overcharging.

BUT Li-ion batteries lose 10% to 20% or so every year and eventually even if you take care of your battery, one day you will struggle to make it one day on one battery.

And high running temperatures can drastically affect the life of the battery over time.

Never use your phone and run high heat temps WHILE plugged into an outlet for charging. LIKE do not watch netflix while charging.

Using the phone creates heat and charging the phone creates heat. both together will fry the battery fast IF done constantly and repeatedly.

the high heat will actually degrade the quality of the battery.

10 - 15 years ago that would have been accurate, but today it is just an urban legend that won't go away. Battery technology has made tremendous advances since the limitations of ni-cads and their memory problem.

I think the battery will has the smart overcharge protection system, so it is ok for charging all night. and i often leave my smart phone charging all night. Maybe it will shorten the lifespan of your battery.

No you should NOT charge it all night and over charging does damage the battery and cuts it's life span drastically. The Note 3 charges in only about 2 hours. It even gives you a warning or notification telling you battery is charged and to please unplug. You should also try to recharge when it gets to about 20%.

It does not hurt to charge your phone all night. The phone will deactivate the charger once it reaches full charge

I have a note 3, works fine, had it for over a year, and my battery life is still just as good as day one. I charge mine quite often.
