You'll be fine with the S3... just get a case.
Agreed. It is a very good device, holding up in the market over a year after release.

FWIW, I have dropped an SIII many times without breaking them.
They, like any other smartphone, just are not designed to withstand hitting concrete from 4 feet in the air.
Get the case. And, get the insurance.

Indeed. I sold mine in September for $320 on Ebay... I had the 32GB S3 with a 32GB micro SD. Still, a great price for a 14 month old Android phone near the end of its resale life.

I'll do much even better in resale with this 64GB 5s next September.

Really appreciate the feedback - since doing away with the home phone this decision seems so much more important - and of course - like all electronic devices - choose one on Tuesday and the next "BIG THING" comes out on Thursday....

Got the phone and the Otterbox case - both purple. Feels like a small brick with the case but the screen size alone is worth it. Will check back in with more questions I am sure - but thanks as always to the people here who helped!

I have some vision issues - so my main reason for this selection was the screen size. I read the reviews on the Sprint page and the biggest complaint seems to be the battery life - does 9 hours sound right?

Any ideas or comments on this choice appreciated.

Thanks in advance
If you have vision issues why not go all the way and get the Galaxy Note 3 which sports a 5.7 inch screen and comes with the latest processors?
