"They" is really generalizing, isn't it?
I can't believe anyone thinks it is JUST as easy to carry a phone vs a tablet.
No way in heck I am walking around with a 7" inch tablet in my pocket.
I wasn't saying that it's easier to carry a tablet than a phone. I said that it's easier than carrying a laptop, netbook, or desktop around. Sure, the phone is easier to carry. That is not a question for me. The tablet does do some things better than a phone does. That's reason enough to carry one, if that's what you need. It's not hard to carry around a tablet, which is what saying "lugging" means, ie., that it's too hard to carry it around.
Carrying a cell phone I can understand. With one help is only a 911 away if the phone is in an active zone. For the rest of the stuff I do OK with a pad of paper and a mechanical pencil.

I was really referring to Mr. Midwests comments about not eating our Wheaties.
I was going to do that, but decided no to this time. Maybe next year I might do this. The iPad, or other tablet with LTE does most of what the phone does, except for the phone itself. So, why not?

I just tether to my phone by using the personal hotspot feature. It works great!
Edit: I should have reviewed first. You quoted someone else. The above is my answer as if I it was me who had said that.
I quoted you. You had plans to switch back to a flip phone and rely on your iPad or other tablet with LTE. I just wanted to see how that's working out for you now that you've been doing it for some time.
