I need to get my 84 year old disabled father a phone. A phone with large buttons. Couldn't find a cell phone with large buttons. Went to AT&T store, and they have a device that plugs into an electrical socket, you plug your home phone into that, and you have a home phone. The device works with cell towers. $20 a month, unlimited calling nationwide.

I DON'T want a contract, but pay as you go. With this device, I can plug any phone into it, so I can buy a phone with LARGE buttons. When my father goes into convalescent hospital, he can take it with him.

Anyone have an opinion on this type of service? thank you!

I've got that exact device as my "home" phone number. Paid full price (I think it was $100 or so) up front so there's no contract. I've had it a little over a year and have had no issues. Just make sure AT&T cell service is good in his area since that's what it technically is. I've brought it with on a couple business trips and had no issues either.

hmm H20 a at&t reseller also recently had a special...

As for finding other phones.. you should try shopping ebay/amazon to see what else is out there..? because buying pre-paid for cellphones is also contract free.. and taxes free/included.. (not sure if you're $20 device is with taxes.. I might assume $22-24 with taxes e911 or whatever ) but you are definitely right.. I do know they make big button physical jack phones

well hmm.. I couldn't find the h20 deal.. but you can glance at the known deals Hot Deals - Slickdeals.net
