You can login from a computer browser, but I don't think you can post from one. I'll check it some time.

It's one of the few apps I have but I haven't had it for that long, I've had my iphone a lot longer and I never post to instagram, I just look at other peoples photos.

First you ask if you have to have an iPhone to use it, now you ask if you need a smartphone in general... iPhone /= all smartphones.

But to answer your question, yes, you need an iPhone, Android or Windows Phone to post pictures on Instagram with the app.

If you are meaning do you need an iPhone to use Instagram from a smartphone the answer is no. There are apps for Android and Windows Phone smartphones as well. Instagram is owned by Facebook and not Apple so they would never make it only able to be used by an iPhone as that would limit their potential user base.

You could use Instagram on an iPod touch or any non-cellular device. Why get a phone for that?
