I signed up for a Sprint pre paid plan a month ago. Even though I live in a big metro area Sprint service is horrible. I rarely ever get 4G LTE.

Impossible as Sprint phones that don't have a separate radio for LTE cannot do simultaneous voice and data at all. The only way you were using data on an iPhone with Sprint while on a phone call is that you were connected to Wifi.

This will be impossible for iPhones on Sprint until Sprint finally rolls out VoLTE (voice over LTE). As usual they're the last carrier to implement the feature as the other 3 carriers have already done so.

I've been told by a Sprint Representative that this is something that they are working on for the future. Which to me means their prices will most definitely be going up. I went to their office and they gifted me an IPAD mini and upgraded my IPhone. Waived the upgrade fee and made sure my bill stayed the same. The representative stated that there were many exclusive offers on my account (the IPad mini was one of them). She stated that coming into the office every 2-3 months to check on new products and offers is something she advises every sprint customer to do. She stated that Sprint has great deals for their patrons, but the customer must be proactive because the company will not voluntarily.

??? AT&T has had this ability for years. Another example of "you get what you pay for".

It's the nature of the technology used. AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM carriers (like 90% of the world) and so all of their devices can talk and surf simultaneously.

Verizon and Sprint chose to use CDMA technology which cannot provide data and voice at the same time. Once LTE technology came out a few years ago some companies started putting an extra radio in their Sprint and Verizon phones in order to allow the use of data while talking, Apple does not make such compromises with its iPhone. So up until the iPhone 6 in 2014, Verizon users could not surf and talk at the same time on their iPhones and Sprint users still can't.
