Android phones often give a warning notification saying you're reaching your data limit. It's not terribly easy to get rid of the notification icon, which will stay on there until the next billing period.
My previous Android phone never did that. I'd receive a text/email from the service provider warning me about this.
Has this been a problem for a lot of users? I found some threads of people who kept seeing the notification even if they had unlimited data. They went to Settings > Data Usage and increased the allotted data, to stop the icon from appearing. It didn't work for me so I got an app called Clear All Notifications.
What brand and model phone do you have? Maybe I can look up the setting or could it be that your provider is sending them to your phone, some providers do that. Did the app solve your problem?
You did not turn it off or it would be off. If you turn it off and it continues to notify you then your phone is broken and you might want to try a Factory Reset.
He has a Moto:
SETTINGS > DATA USAGE > Turn off
LIMIT MOBILE DATA USAGE
ALERT ME ABOUT DATA USAGE
It has a switch called "Set cellular data limit" and I switched it to Off and then rebooted. The icon remained.
I did load an app called Clear All Notifications and it worked.
It looks like Android is trying to second guess when you are running out of data, without even knowing from your service provider what you have. The worst is, if you have unlimited data, you would still get the notification icon even though you never should. Plus it's hard or impossible to get rid of it unless you spend time loading that app. The phone shouldn't be set up like this.
It seems like most people's Android phones do not have this on by default which is good.
