I have Android and the last time I made some Facebook posts, I got the "F" notification on the top bar, but it wouldn't go away. I usually tap on the notification and it displays my post and also gets rid of the notification.
I found some threads saying you can go to Activity Log and do something there, have you tried it?
I also have an app called Clear All Notifications, and that gets rid of all of them very well.
Also you can go to Settings > Apps and turn off notifications from any app. You should know, this is different from the settings you see inside an app.
I just did it again. I posted something to FB. The "F" icon appears in the top bar. It won't go away if I slide down and tap the notification. It's supposed to go away once I look at the posting.
Swipe to the LEFT, Robert, when you pull the notification shade down. Or the right. Either side.
Tapping the notification ACTS on that notification. This is by design. This is how Android has been for years. That's how it is supposed to work.
You never get the point of my posts. The problem is that the notification icon remains in the status bar (the top bar on the phone) after I took action. It's not supposed to stay there.
Update: Thanks Peregrine. I uploaded a photo to FB and then swiped left on the notification. The icon in the top bar went away.
I still think it should go away when I tap on the notification.

Reason: I tried it.
When you first turn on your brand new Android phone there is a 2 minute tutorial that explains that.
