No idea why this is happening and I've Googled every which way I can describe the issue at hand, or finger, that is.
So, if I go to search for something through Google, I can type in what I want, and then when I try to open the option I want, it refreshes the page, so it's stays right at the search screen. I can choose the option I want to open up, but only if I keep my finger on the screen. When it opens, as soon as I lift my finger, it refreshes the page and reloads it again. The only way I can keep it open and not refresh it is to scroll down finger, over finger, so there is always a finger on the screen.
I've tried to delete pictures just in case I have to much on there, removed texts, rebooted, removed battery and even took it to the AT&T store. Guy was no help and said he had no idea what was causing it and suggested a hard reset, which I'd rather not do if I can find another option.
This was originally a T-Mobile android phone but switched it over to AT&T about 6-8 months ago. Hasn't given me any trouble. Only thing I can think of was a required update a few days ago, but can't remember if this started before or after. Yeah, my memory is that bad.
I don't know what else to try. TIA for anyone with suggestions, other than to get a new phone.
We have T-Mobile service on two phones and the same problem. Started after the last OS update. Went to T-Mobile store today and they were no help at all.
That's by design. Any Android phones today, as soon as you type something on the browser that's not a link it will attempt to search the text and refresh to give you more results.
You should keep your fingers off the screen after typing or else you may also be accidentally clicking on links.
Had this exact same problem with my LG D415 phone refreshing every time I took my finger off the screen. I drive me nuts!
The way I corrected the problem was to switch from using the Google search bar to using Google Chrome!
So far this is working perfectly!!!!
I believe the answer has to do with Google's DFP Ad Server, which is used by most websites and affects all browsers regardless of make. Google waits about 10 seconds to serve the ads (as part of its worldwide plot to discriminate against all advertising aside from its own). When it finally serves the ad, the page refreshes. This is predatory behavior that should be curbed by antitrust officials, but we all know that won't happen, except in Europe. Google has become evil, in spite of its corporate motto to the contrary.
experiment with different web searches (e.g.- duckduckgo), different web browser (e.g. opera), different operating-system (e.g. cyanogenmod), ...
