My mom qualified for one of those Lifeline phones.

Its a pretty basic smartphone. I did got a little confused with the buttons, as I am used to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The triangle is the back button, the circle is the background button, & the square is the closing apps button. The power & volume buttons are also on the right side of the phone.

Who makes these phones? Is it a rebadged of something else? All it says on the label is that it was designed in California & assembled in China.

Ultra J8 MediaTek?
Can't find any info...

Here is a list of smartphones that use MediaTek:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._Mediatek_SoCs
but don't know which is your phone.

According to
https://www.freegovernmentcellphones...-phone-manuals
Many vendors do not reveal which phones they provide their Lifeline cell phone customers, so it’s hard to develop a list of phones until someone tells us what they are looking for. But there is an instruction how to find the model of your phone.

Probably Fox Conn or Flextronics, since they are the biggest players in Chinese contract manufacturing.
