The update she did that ruined the phone was back in late September of last year. It wasn’t a beta. She can’t remember which update it was.

What did the release do to the phone? How was it ruined?

I remember one update that made all apps close upon opening and made my phone hot, but those issues went away, I'm not sure how. I still use the original pixel and I like it too but I notice my texting app hangs sometimes. I use Message+ not the stock app that came with the phone.

I am going to be disappointed when I have to upgrade. My friend got the Pixel 3 and loves it but I just don't see a reason to have to buy a new phone when this one is still mostly fine.

The technician said the update fried or overloaded the mother board. The microphone stopped working so you couldn’t make phone calls. Also the phone call app would crash. YouTube videos wouldn’t play sound and I think the speaker went out altogether. Headphone jack wouldn’t work. Phone crashed a lot in general. I can’t remember what else. There were others on Reddit having the same problem that I can link you to. Technician said he couldn’t fix it.

I ended up selling it on eBay for parts and almost wish I would have kept it strictly to use as a camera since the camera and WiFi still worked as well as google drive.
