I know this topic is recycled fairly often but augh.. here I am, talk to me about cell phone providers/plans.
We have 3 phones, 2 watches, and 1 tablet on our Verizon plan. If we paid off all devices we would be paying $273.82 for those devices, including taxes. FWIW - We live downtown Chicago in a concrete jungle.
On T-Mobile those same devices would be $110 per month taxes included (my spouse is 55+).
It boils down to coverage. I could go with T-Mobile and pay $65 a month, but T-Mobile doesn't
work where I live and in most rural areas
We have two smartphones and pay $90 a month for data and unlimited talk and text. ( I always wonder how people end up paying such high prices for Verizon or ATT plans-you should see what the current plans offer)

Seems like a no-brainer to me. In our case T-Mobile is still spotty in some areas that we frequent, away from the city, so it's worth the $225/month for 3 phones and a tablet with shared 16 GB data which allows for personal hotspots in the trailer when camping and no wifi available.

You camp where there is cell service??? KOA? We prefer National Forests. No hookups. No cell or WiFi. We do download shows and movies for the evening on our iPad.
Your 16 gig Verizon plan for $225 for three lines and a tablet must be an older expensive plan. For one, Verizon hasn’t offered a 16gig plan in years. However, they offer an unlimited data/talk/text plan-four lines for $160. Check it out!
No cell phone coverage where I camp is a bonus to me. I don't want others in my camp to be farting around on devices when camping.
I'd switch to T-Mobile in a heartbeat. You should be fine in a big city. You might have some minor coverage issues when you travel/get far outside of cities but for a small fraction of the price it's worth it. I've been with T-Mobile for 8 years in a large city with no issues.
Back in 2014/2015, I was living in Indianapolis and my travel pattern was central Indiana through KY back to Tennessee. T-Mobile was excellent and much lower cost than Verizon - provided I stayed around Indianapolis. T-Mobile data coverage dropped off south of Richmond, KY, and didn't really pick back up until I entered my local area, which was about 200 miles.
Verizon has LTE data coverage on all but 60 miles of that route as of a few years ago.

On T-Mobile I pay less than $225 for 4 lines, a tablet and 2 Apple Watches. About to add a 5th line and should end up around $225.
I had Metro PCS which worked on the Tmobile network and calls were spotty. I switched to Cricket which works on the Verizon network and it's twice as good. and I'm in an area that has good coverage for all carriers.
