This latest involuntary forced update has completely ruined the stability and functionality of my Samsung Galaxy S8 Active phone, deleting all of my widgets, messing up the camera, photo gallery, messaging, even the clock, and more, nothing slipped by unscathed. The new text messaging app is particularly annoying and not secure.

All of the features of the stable and functional operating system I enjoyed are GONE !

How have you been affected ???

That is great news for you, but it would appear I am not the only one:

I have had no problems either..

But, are you referring to the security update that just happened (I had no visible changes on my Samsung S8 from this security update today) - or the Update to Android 9 that actually came out a month or two ago on Samsung?

At the end of last week, I did several security updates on my older Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge after leaving it powered off for several months (replaced with a Samsung S9+ last October). No OS Update, only security updates. I experienced no issues.

Occasionally updates get corrupted or don't install properly. Worst case is do a system restore with the phone and attempt to update later. My S7 is running Android Oreo without problem and my S9+ is running Android Pie with no problem.

If you're having issues after a major update. You need to perform a factory reset. The problem is that many user apps and settings often don't bring over nicely after an update. It's best to install a different launcher like Nova then backup your desktop layout. Then after a factory reset you can restore your layout. I've been doing this for years and always able to get my stuff re-organized.
