No, I'm referring to all of Tracfone's "plans", the Basic, Smartphone, and new "unlimited" T/T plans. With the unlimited plans, the data allowance of the plan is added to your existing data balance. If you don't renew the unlimited plan, your previous minute and text balances are restored. The data from the unlimited plan that was added to your previous data balance is yours to keep and use. Nothing is lost or wasted.

I've helped several of my friends move from one of the big carriers to Tracfone to save money, anywhere from $25 to $60/month. If you don't need all-you-can-eat data, you will probably save money switching to Tracfone or another MVNO plan that more closely matches your actual usage.

I see. It wasn't clear from your initial post where you were going with it. To me anyway. Perhaps someone else caught on quicker than I did.

On these new "unlimited" plans, the ONLY thing which carries over is DATA. Minutes and texts added via these plans will NOT carry over. So this unlimited option is obviously only a good deal for heavy texters/callers.

You don't even have to be poor. There are three people in my home and 50 Mbps, WiFi, VOIP, and Basic cable is almost $190 a month. The idea of spending another $150 for unlimited data for three people on cellular seems ridiculous. It is much cheaper to spend $20 per person for unlimited talk and text and just wait until you get to wifi to look up data.

Why would it be any different?
