When can this nuisance be stopped. Just today alone I received 4 calls and it is only 2.06 pm. That is on my cell phone that is on the do not call list and we received other soliciting calls on our office phone.

Unbelievable!

edited at 2-12 pm. Another call now from a recording with a bad sounding, childish voice saying I'm qualified for a BoA cc and please press one...

OMG...

edited again 2.28 pm another SSN recording call!

I downloaded an app to my cell phone which allows me to block numbers individually, with wild cards, or send all numbers not in my contacts to voice mail. I have it set to anyone not in my contacts. If it's a real call from a real person they will leave a message, but the spammers almost never do that.

Today I apparently got a call. My phone does not ring at all. All I get is a notification that a call was logged and blocked. No voice mail was left.

For my home phone I use Ooma. Their Premier service has incredible number blocking capabilities plus integration with NoMoRoBo. I almost never get spam calls on that, maybe one every few months, unless it's right before an election (LOL).

Bentlebee, I see from your profile that you are a Real Estate agent. I suspect that your advertising is the source of these calls.

My wife has a home based business, she advertises on craigslist, google, yelp and facebook. Every time she posts a new ad, she gets a round of scam calls. Credit card, ss#, hotel points, loans, IRS, generic "your account with us is blocked" etc. She used to call the bank, the IRS, SS, every time she got a call, and all verified that she is in good standing.

It is simply part of the joys of technology.

Because you're Realtor, it's not a good advice to tell you not to answer calls from numbers you don't know. BUT, you can download TrueCaller and have all calls monitored. They are excellent on spotting scammers.
Try it and report back.

When you want all those "excessive gubmint regulations to go away", that's what you get! The Do Not Call list has no teeth. They'll send the biggest abusers a nasty letter not to do it any more. Big whoop! Ajit Pai, Trump's FCC commissioner was at a conference about unwanted calls and got one in the middle of his speech. Priceless! Remember, America is all about business. Businesses are important! You're not. These are legitimate businessmen trying to earn a living. Verizon, T-mobile and AT&T make money off of these calls. Money talks ...your privacy walks!

You'll be receiving more calls:

"This is the IRS". "You owe us $3746". "If you don't pay, the sheriff will be taking you to jail"

"Did you know that your car's warranty is about to expire?"

"There's nothing wrong with your credit, but we can get you a better rate!"

Woman talking Chinese at a rapid rate

Isn't "government deregulation" wonderful? Donald doesn't want you to miss these special offers! Tomorrow, you'll be getting a call offering you 20% off courses at Trump U.

Oh please. Spam calls were just as much a problem during Obama as it is now.

I'm using a free YOUMAIL APP as I'm not going to pay for additional APPS!

So far I have heard that the phone providers are offering to block all numbers not in your list which is not an option for realtors and many other business people.

The calls that keep coming in for robo calls are changing numbers on almost each call as after each call I click on "block".

Years ago I added all the sales call numbers and put them in my contact list as "do not pick up" but then these live people started to call from different numbers till what we are dealing right now.

Sadly it keeps adding calls by each day, most likely as some lonely and elderly people seem to fall for the scammers.

When nobody falls for their scams that will stop and make them come up with a different scam to get free money.

I believe the chances to be caught should be higher as well as the penalties, as for example I would not care if these people get life in prison for invading so much in other peoples life! That may stop them from doing this.

Now they get a sweat, slap on the wrist and asked not to do it again and some leftwingers who feel sorry for them and feel they need to get $ 1000 for free monthly and free health care and free student loans, etc.

A couple of years ago in Colorado, my house was on the market but didn't sell, so it went off market after a while. In the ensuing 6 months I got over 100 unsolicited telephone calls from realtors trying to take over the sale of my house.

That the kind of nuisance you're talking about?
