I got this text: Verizon Msg: To help at this time we are adding 15GB of data to your plan at NO CHARGE for use from 5/1-5/31. No action needed. Visit m.vzw.com/m/covid19FAQs
*******************
This on top of the 15gig set to expire on 4-30. I’m on the 8 gig plan. According to my usage on the Verizon app, it seems that 15 gig gift is used first. Our son is on unlimited. His 15 gig is added to his hotspot allowance.

Bonus data has traditionally been used first with all carriers nationwide for customers with metered data allowances (not unlimited) on their plan/features.

I do give them props for making the bonus data for their customers in this current pandemic.

I am on an unlimited family plan with Verizon. We got 15gigs of free hot spot service. Don't know why as technically we are not supposed to be leaving the house.

I have unlimited data on my Sprint plan, they enabled a 20 Gb hotspot on my account last month at no charge.

Hotspot can be good at home as well as on the road.

You can leave. It is not a lockdown. Just do social distancing. Wear a mask while shopping. Sanitize hands in car. Then stream videos in car.

They did this twice for me also, good company. Wonder if they will raise the GB limit structure they have after this and give more data for the same price.

We the same message from Verizon. I did find it amusing since now more than ever we are using WiFi at home and not data. We barely use what we have now - 4 GB? But still, nice gesture. We have been with Verizon for many years after AT&T bungled a billing issue that took 18 months to sort out. They have been good to us and for a utility provider they are better than most.

verizon was a good carrier until it called everyone a peasant and tries to force us off our CDMA phones (despite the fact 98% of CDMA is owned by Tracfone)

Tracfone doesn't own their network, they lease it from the major carriers. I don't know where you found that statistic.
