The television news just had a news story about how using a cell phone without a head phone device while driving will result in a traffic ticket after July 1, 2008 and there is no grace period. Is everyone getting head phone devices? Do they really help? Which brand is best and where did you buy it?
If your phone is equipped with Bluetooth, you should go with a wireless headset. Start with an inexpensive one to make sure it works well with your phone. They can be found online for $20 or less.

IMHO the only thing they will help is....help you get less tickets for using your cell phone.
The reality is that here have been a clp of studys done (AAA 4 xample) and not ONE of them has indicated a reduction in vehicle accidents when using a hands free phone. It's just more junk science that the powers to be are using to bring money into the general funds pool.
And remember...don't drink and drive..
it's way too easy to spill your drink

What it is is difficult to enforce driving with a head set. You can't tell if someone is on the phone or just singing with the radio. When they hold one up to their ear, you can see it.
Eating tacos while driving doesn't work either. You waste too much of your taco.
If you just took a large rubber band and attatched your phone to your ear then you wouldn't have your arm in the way of your view, and you would have two hands for the wheel. Maybe $1. Ok for just a little more you could use a sweat band or something. for about $6 you could have an earbud and mic that plugs right into the phone. These work fine and some are universal. Blue tooth etc is just more radio signals into the brain.
If you have a voice like my mother-in-law, you don't worry about getting a cell phone ticket.
She just rolls down the window and starts hollering and you can hear her all over the state.
Sure hope they start enforcing the noise ordinance.

Yes, but the rubber band will cut off the blood supply to your brain while you're driving
Actually, what they're trying to get away from is dialing while driving but I don't think requiring head sets will do that. Don't you still have to dial the phone even with a headset?
In one way its a good thing. People usually always seem to call when Im driving and 'most' (not all) of the time I simply dont answer. But a headset or speakerphone is no different than talking to the person next to you...as long as you're not having to dial out, but rather, for answering incoming calls.
There are many though, who seem to have that phone glued to their ears from sun up to sun down, and those are the ones we need to watch for.

With my Bluetooth set I just push a small button on it to dial or answer. For dialing I can either speak the number or say a name in my contacts list. I find using it to be less distracting than another person talking to me in my car.
Without the headset I pull off the street. I am not comfortable dialing and driving.
