Do cell-phone service providers "price-match" on plans? (Verizon Wireless, contract, AT&T)

I currently have AT&T Wireless but out of contract. I was hoping to switch providers, but my current plan is $9.99/mth cheaper now than the exact same plan offered by Verizon Wireless.

Has anyone had any successful experience in asking a service provider to price-match a competitor's rate plan?

I think most these providers work on an established rate plan scenario unless you get in on a promo for a special rate or contract. Most the support people you're going to talk with by phone are in call centers and probly aren't able to manipulate pricing structures to tweak your interests. They can give you a credit or waive some cost but rate plans are built into the database. Most programmers don't answer support phones.
