I'm assuming a "walk around phone" is a cordless phone? I have a 4 handset setup from Panasonic that has an LED on top that flashes when it rings, I don't use comcast phone service though.

Hi there, hope your doing well...thanks so much for the information, but my phone used to flash before I had comcast...but b/c I now have comcast and they're answering service, I'm told it will only work if the phone itself answers the calls...but before I moved, I had comcast and it still flashed..
and yes, sorry, it is a cordless phone...silly me...

Hmmm, were you using the comcast voicemail before when it worked? If not have you tried disabling the comcast voicemail to see if it works then?
