I am considering the above mentioned cities for possible retirement areas.
I still have about ten years or so to work, so need somewhere that has a decent job situation. I guess the obvious choice in that case would be Charleston, but I also would like some feedback as to the pros and cons of each area.
I am in the healthcare field, so jobs would be a little easier to come by, but am wondering if, in the end, Charleston would make a better choice as it is larger and appears to have more public services than the other two; transportation (a big plus for me) etc.
Morehead City and Wilmington are both nice areas. Charleston offers history and charm the others can't match. Also, you'll have quite a variety of beaches to choose from. The medical industry in Charleston is huge too. Good luck on your decision.,
I'm sitting at Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington on vacation now, much nicer beach than any in the lowcountry IMO and I'm from Chas... two nice piers too... but I love my home, be back in a few days...
my daughter says she wants to live here at Wrightsville Beach, gorgeous place and real nice people everywhere you go... we rode the waves all morning, you can actually go out deep in the water here unlike in the lowcountry
the current is dangerous in the lowcountry due to all the jetties etc... not here in wrightsville, the waves actually bring you back in
we really enjoyed the day on this beach, amazing waves too!!
Um -- the beaches are deceptive in that area....they seem safer but can be just as dangerous. We ewre on Kuree beach and the currents were very strong...much stronger than I have seen here at IOP or Folly.
