Summerville Neighborhoods
My husband and I are in the process of selling our home in Ohio to move to the Summerville area. We are working with a realtor down there who is great but does not have the experience of children. I would like an older neighborhood with grown trees. I am not a new development type person. I would also like a bit of a yard considering I am coming from 7 acres. I like the idea of a neighborhood pool, playground, walking trail. I also like sidewalks for our three kids to ride bikes on. Does anybody have any suggestions on good family neighborhoods for us to look in. Our price range will be around 200K. Thanks so much!

The neighborhoods identified are nice mature communities in the Summerville area. For the most part you should be able to find an older home in the 1800 sqft. - 2000 sqft. range in most of these neighborhoods for about $200,000. However, homes in Ashborough will generally be in the $250,000 + range.
A good professional with or without children, be they a Realtor or any other professional person should be able to provide the information about a community or subdivision or at least point their client in the right direction to obtain that information which may be relevant to making an intelligent purchasing decision. If a buyer has doubts about whether a subdivision would be the right choice in terms of having things in common with their future neighbors I would highly recommend that they drive through the neighborhood at different times during the day and week, as well as speak to residents they may meet in the communities under consideration, to see how they like living in their neighborhood. Often times ones eyes and ears are the best tools to use when deciding which neighborhoods would be best for you and/or your family.

Thank you for the information. I did some research online and really like the looks of Newington Plantation. We will be down to drive through some of these neighborhoods soon. I am looking forward to it.

Newington is a good choice. Excellent elementary school, one of the best in Summerville.

Thank you scjj that makes me feel good that I have researched the schools well! I think another one that sounded like a good elementary was Beech Hill however I rarely find housing for sale in that school district.
