Default Daniel Island

We are considering relocating to the Charleston area from New Jersey. Do people have any thoughts on Daniel Island? We like the idea of living in an area with people that come from a variety of geographical areas and many people there seem to come from other areas. I know Daniel Island is relatively new, but it seems very nice.

Daniel Island certainly is a nice community, although I don't think that it is any more diversified than most other areas in Charleston. In fact when it was new many of the first residents came from other areas of Charleston rather than from out of town. The price per square foot will be a good bit higher than in other areas of Charleston and generally the homes are on smaller lots than will be found in other communities. There is limited shopping on Daniel Island, with most residents traveling the short distance to Mt. Pleasant to shop. Real estate taxes are also higher than in the town of Mt. Pleasant. I feel you get more value in Mt. Pleasant than on Daniel Island. However, there are many local residents that feel the premium one pays for a home on Daniel Island is worth it.

Daniel Island is considered to be a higher end area in the Charleston area, comparable to Mt. Pleasant and probably as diverse. It is very unique and a very well planned community. While there is limited shopping, it does have most everything you need on a daily basis. Moderator cut: solicitation removed
