Hi, I wish I could offer good news..but as you already know the traffic in the past year has started to feel like big city traffic! Good news is there are plans to relieve the congestion, bad news, probably by the time they do they have to build/widen roads again!lol~ I used to leave my house at 5:30am no later than 6:00am, the school traffic is incredible now, isn't it? The price we pay to live in "DD2"... good luck and let us know if that helps, we all would like to find an easier way!!

JJ - My husband leaves at by 5:45am from Dorchester Rd. (near Coosaw Creek) and it takes him about 20 -30 minutes to get to the College of Charleston on Wentworth. He goes from Dorchester to Ashley Posphate to 26, and it seems he must be ahead of the rush hour. He is in construction so they have earlier hours.

I have always believed that "most" children who attend public schools will get out of it what they put into it, and by having a combination of a good attitude, staying on top of his or her work, having attentive and encouraging parents who have realistic expectations.
Well, all I can say is that this is the first week of school and from initial impressions, I'm feeling positive and optimistic. Only time will tell.
As my husband likes to say, "it is what it is".

JJ - Definitely not soon enough! I think we are looking at January or February now. Since we've arrived, we have purchased a different lot and bigger home that they have now decided to build. We are buying a Beazer home in The Point at Legend Oaks and have gone from a Palmetto to a Somerby. I think we will be the first ones building their Somerby in Legend Oaks which they built in Ibis Glade as a prototype. Should be interesting, but nevertheless, I'm eager to get settled once and for all. We will only be here 10 yrs and then we're downscaling. (God willing!)

Legend Oaks is one of my favorites. We would have bought out there but at the time we were looking there wasn't many homes for sale. Now it's booming! It's gorgeous and that area is really going to appreciate in value.
One more comment about Gregg (boy did we hijack this thread, sorry Barbara). The thing about Gregg is that it is located in a rural part of Summerville. What you have is a mixed bag of kids. Some come from pretty poor or broken families with little to no home support. They pretty much just show up and that's about it. When the end of the year comes and they have to take the PACT (Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test) which is the report card that this greatschools.com gets their info from, they are lost. These numbers have a negative effect on a school even though overall it is a good school. I know for a fact the education is there if they want it. I've seen the work brought home, I've helped on all those projects. I know that the teachers care. The school can only do so much, the rest has to come from home.
P.S. I asked my son again when he came home if he ever had any problems or noticed any problems there and he said "no mom", like I was crazy.
