Default Vacation in Charleston

I am a single, 34yr old, African American woman. I will be vacationing with my 15yr old daughter in Charleston for a week this summer. What are some must visit places or restaurants? What beach can we visit in the area where we won't look like flies in the milk?

There is so much to do.......

walk on the battery, visit the Citadel, carriage ride, tour one of the historic homes (I do not recommend Calhoun Mansion), shop in the market, visit a plantation.....so many things to do.

I think at any of the beaches you would feel comfy. We prefer Folly Beach
over the others.

There are several great restaurants.......High Cotton, Hanks, Page's Okra Grill & Blvd. Diner (our newest finds thanks to posters here) Taco Boy out at Folly, and Wild Wing Cafe at the Market.

Have a good time !

I'm a fan of Folly as well, but any of the beaches are nice. If you go to Folly, you should plan to go either early or late to miss traffic though.
What type of restaurants do you like? There are plenty to try.

Not sure about IOP or Sullivan's as I haven't been out there recently, but I don't think you'd look "like flies in the milk" on Folly. It would also be a nice idea to spend a day walking around the battery, if you can stand the heat!
