Looking for suggestions on short term, corporate housing, relatively close to the VA Hospital...say within a 20 minute commute.

Regards

Try Residence Inn they have one in Mount Pleasant and one downtown might be your best bet.

How short term? I know that ACRS is a corporate apartment company that has some apartments already set up for situations such as your's. I think they are at Apartment and Corporate Relocation Services. They had the best prices I could find in this area for short term housing.

There are some month to month rentals but sometimes they aren't furnished. Try contacting a Realtor and see what is out there for you price range and time frame.

They only have a few places where they can do something for under 2 months (places where they keep an apartment set up and ready at all times). We stayed at The Tradition of Summerville, which is off 17A behind Walmart. Decent place. I think the other one they offered me was Alta Shores, off of Hwy 78 near Charleston Southern University. Both would be a 20-30 minute drive to the VA hospital. They may have others, too.

If you are staying 3+ months, they have a larger selection of complexes to choose from... and will move you into any place that has an open apartment. We moved from the Tradition to Cedar Grove apartments (near Ashley Phosphate and Dorchester Roads in North Charleston) because it was closer to the house we were building and I could get a first floor unit. I got to view the unit before we leased it through ACRS.

Good luck!!
