No offense to those of you who love Summerville, but I never understand why people want to move to Charleston and then choose Summerville. That's like wanting to move to L.A. and choosing Bakersfield.
Good luck, OP.
I guess it's just that old freedom of choice thing.
You mean there are people who still want to move to L.A.?
Mount Pleasant vs. Summerville. BLECH.... get a life and a new fight.
Reality -- if you want to live in Summerville - great...if you choose Mount Pleasant great.....be done with it. One is not better than the other - they are different. We are different.
Y'all sound like some middle school kids with this discussion.

Lol.
Reading these forums and getting as much info as I can has so far convinced me of one thing..........
I wouldn't make any decision based on this board .
Not sure how you came to your conclusion. After three years of browsing Charleston area, there is no place I would rather live in than Mount Pleasant. Summerville is a fine community but I would never live there. Doesn't mean those that have chosen to live there are inferior, it simply means that I like Mount Pleasant better.
Within Mount Pleasant I have preferences as well - Park West, Rivertowne, even Brickyard are too far out for me. I do not like HWY 17 and would avoid any place that would make me rely on it to get from A to B. I have to use it but not often, there are always alternative routes.
Once again, it isn't about what is best -- it's about what is best FOR EACH PERSON.
Claiming local status does not give somebody more credibility in determining where the best place to live. Locals all have their personal opinions as well and don't always agree on what suits them.

You have a point there.
Honestly, I don't want to hurt anyones feelings or point fingers. Just some of the incessant Mt Pleasant is the best place kind of turned me off.
To be fair, I would not look in Summerville either because it is too far out. I am more of a downtown kind of girl
If you work near Summerville live in Summerville. If you work near downtown, live in downtown or Mt. Pleasant. In theory, both areas are yuppie hell.
